A groodle, or goldendoodle, is a Golden Retriever crossed with a poodle, and the coat shows it: big, thick, wavy to curly, and quick to matt wherever it rubs. It's a lot of coat to carry, and it needs a steady, scheduled hand. We groom that coat every single day, and your groodle leaves comfortable, brushed right through, and finished the way you asked.

A groodle is a Golden Retriever crossed with a poodle, and the coat lands somewhere between the two: the density and length of the golden, with the wave or curl of the poodle. It's a big, generous coat that looks wonderful full, but all that volume traps. Behind the ears, under the collar and harness, in the armpits and elbows, through the leg feathering and the trousers at the back, it knots quietly until a brush won't pass through.
Most salons treat every breed the same and reach for the clippers the moment a coat gets tricky. We chose the opposite. When you work with poodles and oodles all day, you learn exactly where a doodle coat matts, how much length it can carry, and how to keep the curl and the fullness instead of shaving it off. Your groodle gets that attention, not a rushed compromise.
A coat this big needs a proper brush-out before anything else. Coat-health first, hand-scissored where it counts, and finished to the look you actually want.
The rounded face and soft, even body most groodle owners picture, scaled up for a bigger dog. It's hand-scissored, not rushed off with a clipper, so the shape sits right on all that coat and grows out kindly.
A deep wash and a proper blow-dry to lift a thick coat, a full brush-out down to the skin, nails, ear clean, sanitary trim and paw pads. On a coat this size the dry and brush-out are the real work, and we don't skip them.
A Full Groom for a clean all-over tidy, a Style Trim for a hand-scissored shape kept long, or the Asian Style for a rounder, plush, fuller look that suits a big doodle. Tell us the length you like and we'll match it.
Coat-health always comes before a fast finish. If the coat has matted, we work to what's kind for the dog rather than pulling knots that hurt, and we'll always talk you through it first.
Most groodles do best on a full groom every four to six weeks. It's a big, dense coat, and left much longer it starts to matt at the friction points, which means a shorter, kinder cut to keep the dog comfortable rather than the length you wanted.
Between grooms, this is a coat that genuinely needs brushing, three or four times a week, right down to the skin through the legs, behind the ears, the armpits and the trousers. A quick surface brush only tidies the top and leaves the knots underneath. If keeping to a rhythm is the hard part, we can book your next groom in before you leave, so a big coat never gets away from you.
A groodle is usually a medium to large dog, often 15 to 30kg or more, so most sit in our larger tiers with a Full Groom from $170, and the final price always depends on size and coat condition, confirmed before we start.

Every four to six weeks for a full groom keeps a big doodle coat comfortable and the shape you like. It's a dense coat, so brush it three or four times a week between visits, right to the skin behind the ears, in the armpits and through the leg feathering, to stop matting setting in.
Yes. A groodle coat matts close to the skin, and we put the dog's comfort first, so a badly matted coat may need a shorter clip rather than a painful de-matting. We'll always look at the coat and talk you through the options before we start.
The teddy-bear look, a rounded face with a soft, even body, is the one most groodle owners ask for. On a bigger dog it's all hand-scissored so the shape sits right, and the Asian Style takes that fuller, plush finish even further. Bring a photo and we'll match it.
We do, and an early, gentle first groom matters even more on a breed with this much coat. We keep a puppy's first visit calm and unrushed so they learn to enjoy being brushed and handled, which makes every groom after it easier.
A groodle is a bigger dog with a lot of coat, so the wash, blow-dry and full brush-out take real time, and we never rush a groom to fit the day. We'll give you a realistic window when you book and let you know if the coat needs anything extra.
