Schnoodle grooming, beard and all.

The schnoodle coat is a Schnauzer-poodle mix, and it rarely reads one way: wiry in some places, soft and curly in others, with a beard and eyebrows that want shaping. We groom that coat every single day. Bring us your schnoodle and it leaves comfortable, tidy, and finished the way you asked.

Why the coat needs a specialist

A schnoodle coat is rarely just one thing.

A schnoodle is a Schnauzer crossed with a poodle, and the coat can land almost anywhere between the two. Some are wiry and harsh like the Schnauzer side, some are soft and curly like the poodle, and plenty carry both textures on the one dog. That variety is why a schnoodle rarely suits a single clip length run across the whole body.

The furnishings are where the work is. The beard around the muzzle collects food and water and knots as it dries, the eyebrows need shaping to keep the eyes clear, and the longer hair on the legs matts at every point the dog bends and moves. When you groom poodle and oodle coats all day, you learn to read which texture you're working with and where it will knot, so the coat is handled properly rather than shaved off to save time.

In the studio

The schnoodle groom we do.

Coat-health first, the beard and eyebrows shaped by hand, and the body finished to the length that suits your schnoodle's coat.

The beard and eyebrow finish

The look most people picture on a schnoodle: a tidy body with the beard, moustache and eyebrows shaped by hand to frame the face. Prefer a softer, rounder teddy instead? We shape that too, just tell us.

Bath, dry & full tidy

A proper wash and blow-dry, full brush-out, nails, ear clean, sanitary trim and paw pads, with the beard combed through and dried so it sits clean. The comfort work, done every time, not on request.

Styles to choose from

A Full Groom for a clean all-over tidy, a Style Trim for a hand-scissored shape, or the Asian Style for a rounder, plush finish. Tell us the length you like and we'll match it.

Coat-health always comes before a fast finish. If the coat has matted, we work to what's kind for the dog rather than pulling knots that hurt, and we'll always talk you through it first.

Keeping it easy between visits

How often should a schnoodle be groomed?

Most schnoodles sit on a full groom every four to six weeks. The furnishings on the legs and face grow and matt faster than a short body coat, so leaving it much longer usually means a shorter cut to keep the dog comfortable rather than the length you had in mind.

Between grooms, the beard does best with a quick comb every few days, since it collects food and water at every meal and drink. A brush through the legs, the beard and the eyebrows two or three times a week keeps knots from setting in. If it's been a while and the coat has got away from you, just bring them in, we'll get them comfortable again with no judgement.

What it costs

Schnoodle pricing, plainly.

Most schnoodles are a small to medium dog, roughly 5 to 12kg, so that's the tier you'll usually be in; the final price depends on your dog's size and the condition of the coat, and we'll confirm it before we start.

Good to know

Schnoodle grooming questions.

My schnoodle is matted around the legs and beard. Can you still groom it?

Yes. The legs and beard are the two spots that matt most on a schnoodle, and we put the dog's comfort first. A badly matted coat may need a shorter, kinder cut rather than a painful de-matting, and we'll always look at the coat and talk you through the options before we start.

How often should I groom my schnoodle?

Every four to six weeks for a full groom keeps the coat comfortable and the shape you like. Between visits, comb the beard every few days and brush the legs and eyebrows a few times a week to stop matting from setting in.

What's the most popular schnoodle style?

The classic schnoodle look keeps a tidy body with the beard, moustache and eyebrows shaped to frame the face, all hand-scissored. If you'd rather a softer, rounder teddy finish, we do that too. Bring a photo if you have one and we'll match it.

Do you groom schnoodle puppies?

We do, and an early, gentle first groom makes every groom after it easier. We keep a puppy's first visit calm and unrushed, and it's a good chance to get them used to having the face and beard handled.

How long does a schnoodle groom take?

It depends on size, coat length and condition, and we never rush a groom to fit the day. We'll give you a realistic time when you book and let you know if anything changes.

How much is a schnoodle groom?

Most schnoodles are a small to medium dog, so you'll usually sit in that size tier. The exact price depends on your dog's size and the condition of the coat, and we'll confirm it with you before we start. You'll find our full pricing on the services page.
